Cierna Hora ( Black Mountain )
Cierna Hora ( Black Mountain ) is located in the middle of pine tree hills of Slovak Paradise at about 750 m above see level. Beautiful nature, incredibly good climate conditions, ideal distance from the village and main road make this resort ideal for quality mountain activities. Tracking, mountain biking, skiing - all can be done here. The resort itself has its own ski slope - aprox 350 m long - ideal for beginners or children to learn to ski. Main ski resort in this area - Dedinky Mlynky - is just 20 minutes away from here. There's a nice playground in the resort, but there's a also a gym and playground inside one of the buildings of this resort. During summertime families can enjoy easy and also difficult tracking routes of Slovak Paradise. Picking of forest fruits or mushrooms are also very popular in this area which Slovakia is really proud of.
This resort is not functioning at the moment, due to unability of the owners to run it. This whole area was given back to original owners in year of 2001after process of restitution after fall of comunist regime. Because of financial problems they decided to sell the complete resort to new owner.
Cierna Hora resort was built sometime in 1930's and for more then 70 years used as climate spas combined with hot baths from forest herbs. Capacity of the spas is up to 300 visitors. Before 2nd World War they were very popular among clientele from whole Europe - mainly from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. After the war comunist government turned this resort into Spas for children with breathing problems - asthma, alergies etc. The secret is in absolute clean air with ideal humidity.
This resort requires a new investment - mainly into accomodation facilities and ski slope. Ski slope under the hotels and villas of this resort wasn't used for more then 25 years. If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact Slovakia Peaks for all adittional information.
